Musical Styles

I’ve played a lot of different stuff! Most professionals have too after all. I’ve played a lot of jazz, from small ensembles to big bands on stages like The Rex, The Living Arts Center, and Dundas Square, and at festivals such as The Waterloo Jazz Festival, the Guelph Jazz Festival, and the Toronto Undergrad Jazz Festival.

I’ve played a lot of classical, from string orchestras all the way to full symphony orchestras including the Toronto Philharmonic Orchestra, the Toronto Youth Wind Orchestra, and the University of Toronto Scarborough Concert Band.

I’ve played a lot of pop and rock and funk! I run a company called South West Ontario Entertainment where we do weddings, corporate, private, and civic events where pretty much anything under the sun get asked for. From Top 40 with SWOEBAND, classic rock with Golden Juke Band, and greasy funk with Hot Breakfast, I’ve played it all.

And I love to play latin music. I help run a band called Salsa Real, we play dance parties in the region, play at cultural festivals and street fares, and just have a good time with the most enthusiastic music anyone’s ever heard.

Education and Background

Originally from Halifax, Nova Scotia, I studying music at the University of Toronto where I got my degree in double bass performance in jazz. Since then I’ve been working as a musician, band leader, arts administrator, and of course teacher! I’ve lead music groups as small as duets and as large as orchestras, and I play the double bass and the electric bass professionally. In 2023 I moved from Toronto to Guelph where I started the Guelph Jazz Society, an arts organisation dedicated to the promotion of jazz culture.
